How Hangul blocks work
Vertical vowels ㅏ ㅑ ㅓ ㅕ ㅣ sit to the right of the consonant. Horizontal vowels ㅗ ㅛ ㅜ ㅠ ㅡ sit below it. The colored boxes show the positions; the large letter shows the finished block.
Initial ㅇ is silent. A vowel still needs a consonant position: ㅇ + ㅏ = 아. These are basic two-letter combinations, not necessarily words. Final consonants and compound vowels come later.
Listen first, then try. Enable Auto-listen to hear each new selection. Recordings play where available. Other combinations use a Korean device voice while their recordings are being prepared.
Romanization is a reading aid. It follows Revised Romanization: ㅓ = eo, ㅡ = eu, ㅜ = u, 시 = si. It is not English pronunciation spelling. Official guide ↗
